2nd Annual Katherine Marks Day
Passing the Torch - CommuniTEA Ceremony
The Katherine Marks Legacy Foundation proudly hosted the Second Annual Katherine Marks Day at the historic Kenosha Civil War Museum. This heartfelt celebration, themed “Passing the Torch,” honored the life and legacy of the late Katherine Marks, a dedicated community leader, mentor, and the first Black woman elected to office in Kenosha County.
The event brought together community leaders, local organizations, families, and residents to reflect on Katherine’s lifelong commitment to service, education, and youth empowerment. Guests enjoyed the CommuniTEA Ceremony, featuring speeches, musical performances, and a special tribute to women in leadership who are continuing the work Katherine so passionately championed.
Special recognition was given to our incredible sponsors—Universal Trucking LLC, Chef David’s Catered Events, Waterfront Warehouse, and Kenosha County—for their help making the celebration possible.
This year’s theme emphasized legacy-building, mentorship, and the power of community. Attendees were reminded that the torch Katherine lit continues to burn in the hands of a new generation of change makers.
Together, we honored the past, celebrated the present, and inspired the future.
